SYRACUSE _ GIANT MIRRORS EP

I co-directed a series of three music videos for parisian band Syracuse's first EP, Giant Mirrors.

We tried to blur the borders between music video and amateur holiday videos, without using found footage. Just keeping it simple, no story, no special effects, only atmospheres. The inspiration comes from watching Jacques Yves Cousteau's movies, smoking a lot of weed on rooftops in Paris, and spending hours searching for old travel documentaries on the INA website.

Again, I tried to make a party video that is somehow different. No fun, no banger/dubtsep/turbine shitty club music, no guys with stupid sunglasses, no crowd cheering. No lies.

Last week I filmed the CLFT launch party at DV1, Lyon (France). I tried not to make it look like a random party video. No "put your hands in the air", no stupid girls trying to look sexy. Don't know if i succeeded. Anyway, here's a free mp3 by Splatter.

fresh and clean

Amazing music video by Eugene Kotlyarenko for San Francisco's Dominant Legs. I'm amazed by how simple and fresh and honest this is (both video and song). It could be another random indie clichéd music video with a boy and a girl running around, but it's not. It is somehow different. Hannah and Ryan are genuinely beautiful and they move so gracefully. It's unexplainable. View the video here.

Super chouette clip de Eugene Kotlyarenko  pour le quintet de San Francisco Dominant Legs. Je suis vraiment impressionné, c'est tellement simple, frais et honnête (aussi bien la chanson que la vidéo). Ça pourrait être un énième clip rempli de clichés indie, mais ça ne l'est pas. C'est différent, je ne saurais même pas dire exactement pourquoi. Hannah et Ryan sont naturellement beaux et ils bougent de manière tellement gracieuse. C'est insaisissable et inexplicable du coup. This is much better than Martin de Turah's previous video for James Blake. Actually it's pretty much better than every music videos I've seen this year. A simple and wonderful and heartbreaking goodbye story. Watch it, really.

to make digital look like analogical, but it looks totally fake.

I saw Sonic Boom & Spectrum in april in Bordeaux (fr) where I made them a live video. Sonic Boom (peter kember), ex-Spacemen 3 is so intimidating. Right now he's co-producing MGMT's new album.
